The girls love peanut butter so I was excited to learn it has a day to celebrate! General Mills was kind enough to send us a box with some peanut butter cereals and a few other cool items. They also included a pamphlet with some interesting facts.
The Cheerios I grew up eating has 100 calories and 1 gram of sugar. The yummy Honey Nut Cheerios has 150 calories and 9 grams of sugar. That is a big jump but I tend to mix them half and half in the cereal container. The girls get the sugary cereal taste they crave and I get a lower sugar option in their tummies.
When we have snow days or special occasion mornings I let them have the full bowl of sugary option. It is still healthier than a toaster pastry and cereal contains 50% more whole grains theses days. General Mills has also reduced the sugary cereal line and now all have 10 grams or less per serving.
I sure don't mind the girls getting a treat every now and then. I wish my mother had let me have a sugary cereal option once in a great while. Then maybe I would not covet it as much as an adult.
