With the overripe berries we picked this week I helped the girls make a yummy and healthy dessert from our fun new cookbook, Kids Fun and Healthy Cookbook. We used fresh, local berries and whole grain bread. Not only was it healthy but it tasted so good!

- 8 slices whole grain bread
- 1 lb 5 oz fresh or frozen berries
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup sugar
Place berries, water, and sugar in a pot and cook until berries are very soft. Strain juice from berries. Cut bread into fun shapes and place 4 slices in a shallow dish. Pour half the juice over bread. Place remaining slices on top and add remaining juice. Place the dish in the fridge for 30 minutes to an hour. Top with a few whole berries and enjoy!
