Five Fun Goals for the New Year

We are in full swing with our new year. There are new activities for the girls and fun Christmas gifts to play with. On New Years Eve we sat down as a family and set out some goals for ourselves for the new year. Audrey wants to learn to read and Maurene is ready to potty train. Mommy and daddy also set several lofty goals for themselves.

As for our eating habits, we have a few goals on that front as well. Here are five of them:
  1. Drink more water. We usually have milk or juice at every meals and it is a goal to change that. I believe that milk can be a breakfast drink and then we can consume water for snacks and the remaining meals. Juice will be an occasional beverage choice.
  2. Consume more vegetables. Our five servings of fruits and vegetables a day is heavy on the fruit side. This is a goal I know will be easy to work toward because we have already made progress.
  3. Eat less processed food. When time is short we tend to eat boxed convenience foods for dinner. Our goal is to find and keep on hand healthy and easy to fix dinners.
  4. Find fun new snacks. Our snack routine is a little boring. We have fruit and crackers most snack times. The girls would be fine with continuing this but I think some fun variations would be healthy.
  5. Work on our muffin recipes. We have several healthy muffin recipes we have been working on and it would be great to have a few more. These freeze well and are great for breakfast, snacks, and lunch additions.
What are some of your goals for the new year? Are they the same ones you had last year or did you find some new ones?
