Cake Balls, Toddler Style

Placing the last layer of decoration on top!

She really isn't a toddler anymore but I am having a hard time reconciling that fact. But they are little girl cake balls and so pretty! You could be looking at two future pastry school graduates in the picture above.

Audrey received the Cake Pop's book by Bakerella and a cake pop maker for Christmas. I couldn't help myself, I knew she would have fun. For our initial trial we made cake balls for a family holiday gathering.

The girls helped with the batter and then I poured it into the maker. That silly thing gets hot! The next day we dipped and decorated the cake balls before packaging them up for our party.

Audrey and Maurene's Tasks:
  1. Help measure and add ingredients
  2. Operate mixer
  3. Dip balls
  4. Spread decoration on top
Mom's Tasks:
  1. Gather ingredients
  2. Cook balls
  3. Melts coatings
  4. Assist with decoration
And even though they are not like Bakerella, we still enjoyed our cake balls very much. I think we will stick with the cake pop maker for a bit until the girls get a little better at baking. Even with the machine we can make cake pops and decorate them a la Bakerella. It really is an adorable book, check it out!
