Me, Too! Maurene Cracks Eggs.

Maurene wants to be just like big sister. Sometimes sister gets to do things Maurene can't do yet. One thing recently Maurene has really wanted to do is crack the egg in our muffin recipe. It is not an easy task if you do not know what you are doing. I decided to have a practice session with little sister Maurene so she could get good enough to crack the egg in our muffin recipe. One night we had an omelet for dinner, what better time to practice.

Practice makes perfect.

She ended up crushing most of them instead of cracking them. It was good practice. I was able to fish out any shells and then we scrambled the eggs so it did not matter that they were pulverized.

Maurene's grandma asked her to help peel hard boiled eggs after our practice session. I heard after that she simply wanted to crush those eggs as well. It took a bit to get her to learn to peel the shell off.

Peeling hard boiled eggs.

If you have more than one child you might try to get another adult to give you time to work with younger children so they can learn some of the skills the older children have mastered. I have also involved Audrey in another fun activity and then worked alone with Maurene. Do what works for your family but don't forget the little ones!

  1. Working with hard boiled eggs looks hard too. Having another adult to work with is a great tip!

  2. I would love to have help more often! Sometimes I just have Audrey do another fun job so Maurene can learn to help. It must be hard to be the little sister.
