April 5 Saucey, Slow Cooker Style

One of the perks of teaching your children to help in the kitchen is the slave labor. Audrey loves to chop and I have dishes to load into the dishwasher. Everyone is happy, right? I peel the apples and have her chop them for our homemade applesauce. It does not matter what size or if they get chopped at all. I have her throw them all into the slow cooker and we cook them until they mush.I bought a 3 lb bag of red delicious apples and cooked them in the 2 1/2 quart slow cooker.

Audrey's Tasks:

  1. Chop apples
  2. Place in slow cooker
  3. Cover and turn on cooker
Mom's Tasks:
  1. Peel and core apples
I really did not get the good part of that job. Oh well, we have homemade applesauce now. Should last until the end of the week. I hope.
She is busy, hold her calls.

  2. Stopping by from UBP! I love to have my 3 year old son help in the kitchen. And he really enjoys it. I love that you list what tasks your child does with each recipe. What type of knives does your daughter use for chopping. I haven't let my son do any chopping with our knives we have.
