January 29 Green Monster

Audrey's new favorite snack is a Green Monster. I found some spinach in the fridge recently that was too old for a good salad but not old enough to toss. My curiosity about the spinach smoothie got the better of me and I decided we needed to try it.

  • 2 cups spinach
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 banana
  • ice
Place everything in a blender and mix until smooth. We like to mix everything but the ice and store it in the fridge until we want a treat. Then we blend with ice to make the smoothie.

Audrey's Tasks:

  1. Help gather ingredients
  2. Measure and place ingredients in blender
  3. Operate blender
Mom's Tasks:
  1. Assist Audrey
I was skeptical at first but after the girls enjoyed it the first time I tried it. If you store the juice in the fridge it will be super easy to mix up a smoothie at any time. We have them often. Now I don't feel bad about buying a bag of organic spinach for a good salad when I know we won't finish it before the bag goes bad. The rest is kept for Green Monsters.

  1. I was skeptical, but threw caution to the wind and tried it with my 4 kids (ages 9,8,5 and 5) and some daycare kids. It was a HUGE success! Before, they wouldn't dream of touching spinach, lol. They all loved it! (I did add a tsp of sugar to their glasses, is this a crime?) Anyway, I promised them we could have this in the morning before school in the fall and they were practically cheering! You're one of my newest heroes!! Thx for the awesome blog - you're an inspiration!

Audrey wants to hear from you!
