A real easy way to start eating a little healthier is to purchase local produce. We are lucky to be members of a great CSA and have access to several Farmers Markets as well. We also belong to the local food coop which allows us to find local foods when the outdoor markets close. They sponsored an Eat Local Challenge not too long ago and Audrey participated. She even got a shirt!
Here are several of the meals we ate as part of the challenge:
The girls drink local milk and mostly consume local eggs. We love to buy chicken from a local farm when we can. Since we have started eating locally we do not eat as much processed foods and enjoy a wider variety of produce. Apples are great right now as well as some wonderful squash and sweet potato varieties. I feel better knowing where my food comes from.
