August 28 Apple Crisp

Apple Crisp is a paternal family favorite. At every holiday there is one and sometimes two large pans of this yummy dessert. Audrey's daddy will walk by the dish and pick a large hunk of topping off and eat it with his fingers. I think she is watching and learning when he does that. Audrey also enjoys apples so we like to make any type of apple dessert. Usually we use a recipe that calls for rolled oats but if we are out this is a good stand-in. Sometimes we just substitute a little rolled oats for the flour in this recipe. You can never have too much apple crisp chez Audrey nor is it ever around long enough to critique. It makes me think we could do an entire month of apple recipes and no one around here would think it odd in any way. We are getting a nice crop of local apples right now...
