August 24 Cherry Chocolate Cake

Audrey wanted chocolate cake. I decided to use an old favorite kid-friendly recipe.

Cherry Chocolate Cake

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 can cherry pie filling
  • 1/2 cup butter
Place pie filling in 8 x 8 baking dish. Pour dry cake mix on top. Cut butter into small pieces and place on top of cake mix. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes or until batter is no longer moist.

Audrey's Tasks:
  1. Put pie filling in baking dish
  2. Pour cake mix on top
  3. Cut butter and put on top
Mom's Tasks:
  1. Gather ingredients
  2. Bake
This is a great recipe for making a quick and easy dessert. You can alter the flavor of the pie filling and cake mix to create a custom dessert. I happen to like this combination. Audrey loved pouring the cake batter in the dish and cutting the butter. She also had to taste the butter several times. It is a good thing this was just for family.
