Eat Local Challenge Day 3

We had many local items in our meal for this day but, alas, not a lot. The main course was pierogies and to that we added a zucchini side dish and a tomato in our salad. We had organic broccoli and lettuce from California and corn from Colorado. This time of year if it is not a squash of some kind it has been frozen, canned, or is from out of state. We are still getting tomatoes and cucumbers in our CSA but that was not enough tonight. I wanted corn. And Audrey picked out the broccoli. No mom is going to tell her toddler she can't buy broccoli. Audrey tried the broccoli, zucchini, lettuce, and pierogie. She found none to her liking but she did try them all on her own. That made me very happy. Here she is helping make the secretive zucchini side dish. We are recipe testing again so I cannot revel the recipe. It was a zip top bag with the ingredients inside. She enjoyed shaking it.
