Today Audrey and I joined in with a group of parents and caregivers who feed their children lunch (or another meal) in a muffin tin. The theme this week is Cinco de Mayo/Hispanic Heritage. We went to the store to find foods grown in Mexico so we could have a better understanding of the relationship between our two countries.
Here is Audrey helping to cut the food:
Next I let her select the items to go into her muffin tin. She picked grape tomatoes, mango, chips, banana, cheese, blackberries, valencia orange:
She did not eat it all but that is fine because she had a big breakfast. This was also her first time so she did not know what to expect. While at the store Audrey selected a lime but did not want it in her tin. Rather than waste this I put it in a pitcher of water for a refreshing drink later in the day. I am going to use this activity to help her learn a little about the days of the week. Now she will know about Mondays.
Maurene got in on the action as well (she is having Mexican oranges):
